O.C.T. - 08/02/08 – Yorktown Sea Kayaking
At present the trip for the weekend of 08/02/08 is Goodwin Island in Yorktown. It is nice with some WWI artifacts/history in it. However, I would be willing to change this trip to a place I have not lead a trip for the Coastals before. I was thinking of Annapolis MD would be a good choice. Annapolis is some what scenic and a different place to go than previous trips. I know it is a little far and gas prices are up but it is an option.
If there is enough interest I will change the trip location.

Re: O.C.T. - Yorktown To Be Annapolis MD Sea Kayaking
the trip is scheduled to go from the Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis MD. The trip here is good for Novice paddlers and I plan to do a 7 mile round trip. If all the paddlers in the group were experienced then a trip around the Naval Academy would be my second choice. I have had correspondences with A sea kayaker in the Annapolis area and the following replies:YeOldeAndDecrepite wrote:I am moving the Sea Kayak trip to Annapolis MD. "Chip
Thank you for your information and cooperation. I did get permission to launch
from Quiet Waters at the beach next to their dock. It is still a quarter mile
hike from the parking lot so a wheeled cart would be good to have. I do like
your recommendation of Truxtun Park, but I have not done that before so I am
unfamiliar with the tides, currents, winds, motor boat traffic, etc. Seven miles
is a good length for this trip as I usually get novice/Intermediate paddlers
sometimes an older paddler or two. Anyway, I will post today that the first
choice is Quiet Waters with the quarter mile hike and the second is Truxtun
around the Naval Academy.
Thank you

> But maybe you checked into it and have got an arrangement? If not, check out
the city's Truxtun Park. I frequently launch from Jonas Green park (free, no
launch but a sand beach) across the 450 Bridge from the Naval Academy, but the
parking got tight there since they are doing some construction.
