Now you're talkin'! I'm working on an early afternoon Friday escape myself, but won't be able to paddle until Saturday. I believe there will be folks paddling Friday, but I'm not sure where or when.PSUpac wrote:OK, I'm chippin' away at my work responsibilities for Webster Springs weekend. I've gotten Saturday free (I think) and am working on Sunday. Will anyone be going out early to paddle Friday?
I'd like to stay at the cabin if there's still room.

I know the river levels, except the Gauley, are all down right now. But the 10 day forecast has some chance of rain out there almost every day. I'm hopeful for rising levels!

First of all, how cool is it to quote yourself!?Wallace wrote:I know the river levels, except the Gauley, are all down right now. But the 10 day forecast has some chance of rain out there almost every day. I'm hopeful for rising levels!

Second of all, the weather man for WV has been a good boy this week. Almost everything in the Webster Springs area is green on the AW page.
Last of all, Saturday and Sunday are currently forecast to have high temps in the 50s and 60s!
This trip is looking better all the time!!!

I'll be heading up to Webster Springs at 3pm on Friday from the far west end of Richmond. I have room for probably 3 more people and their gear if anyone wants to carpool. My plan is to return Sunday after an early rocket run.
hit me up if you want to share gas and catch a ride.

Thinking about Webster Springs. This would be my first trip as a member of this group, and to those rivers. Has the bunk house filled yet? Anyone passing through the Blacksburg area and want to share a ride, I have a truck for boats but only comfy for one other person to ride? Could leave around 4 on Friday (some flexibility on the time) and like to return before dark on Sunday.
From all I've seen here on the board, there should be plenty of room at the cabin. You are welcome to join us on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be wide open depending on river levels (class III-IV for the group, but there are some II-III runs available too). Sunday we'll run the Elk above town which is II-III and short. See you there and welcome!!!

Wallace, pls contact me.
W,
We'll be up there. Might camp somewhere in route Friday night, if not at the cabin. Truck camping at the Camp Caesar cabin Saturday. Send me an email so I can get your cell number.

We may well end up in violation of Robert Weddle's third law of whitewater, "Never drive away from good local water" as the Maury is bumpable now, headed up, and more rain is expected.
Webster didn't get as much rain as forecast but some streams are trying to come up and a little more rain is expected. Cranberry is just under AW's 3.5 minimum and rising. Williams is low but rising sharply. Elk is low for above town but rising slowly. Meadow is running low but rising.
High Saturday is 56, Sunday 65. Should be good for roasting in a drysuit.

Wallace, are you NOT planning on doing a II / III trip on Saturday?
