I wont be paddling for a while. I burned a good deal of my right hand last night while working with hot glass. First time i have burned myself this badly in years. So yep, stick a fork in it, it's done.
Ouch!

Don't they have a burn center at UVA?
Get the best help you can and get better soon. That's the PRO move.

So, I was a bit dramatic. The burn is localized to the fatty pad area around the thumb and palm. earlier this morning the skin was sorts of pissed off and honestly it kinda looks pissed off. I had an ice bag on my hand for about 2hours after it happened. fingers are fine just the skin is stiff and pain has pretty much gone away but it smarts driving and shifting gears.
I'll keep it lubed up with aloe and the ice bag move I know isnt recommended but thats what glassblowers do. ice a burn down. the skin is already toasted so the nerve damage from freezing it isnt going to do that much more damage.
There is no real charring even though the burn is 3rd degree, the skin is glassy looking, smooth, and semi stiff. No blisters at all.
I weapon of choice for this act of inattention was a steel rod preheated in a 2000 degree furnace; at least the rod wasnt glowing.
I have never made a pipe, really.
