Back Creek, Jackson River, and Bull Pasture

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

Back Creek, Jackson River, and Bull Pasture

Post by John and Linda VanLuik »

Every creek in Bath County was running well above minimum today. Started with Back Creek with some FFV members and then did the Jackson starting at the Rod and Gun Club. Had a couple of open boat swims and one kayak swim on Back Creek. Got passed by Howard Kirkland and friends on Back Creek. Howard and some of his group and myself with Rick Mattox, Brian Vandesande, and Tyler Willoughby paddled the section of the Jackson from the Rod and Gun Club low water bridge to the lake. Big waves and had to dodge some holes on the Jackson. Thanks to the Rod and Gun Club for allowing us to paddle Back Creek and the Jackson. Ended the day on the Bull Pasture with Howard and his friends. The Bull Pasture was 2 ft. on the RC gauge. Howard is going to be camping at the Wallace Tract, south of Williamsville all week if you want to paddle in that area.

Made that trip for a PFD on Back Creek, in the middle of a crazy spike. A little intimidating for a first trip in about 8 months, but very fun!!!
I love the smell of Neoprene in the morning...
