Thank you to the safety boaters

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

Thank you to the safety boaters

Post by Neal F. »

A BIG thank you goes out to the boaters, and one boogie boarder, who showed up Sunday morning for the Xterra Triathlon swim. I believe 12 boaters showed up and each one was defintely needed--from chasing down the occasional drifting swimmer, to parking boats on top of rocks just under the water, encouraging the anxious-riddled cometitors to relax and keep going, to even transporting a prosthetic leg to the swim finish (that was a new one!). The race went the smoothest it ever has in the past 12 years they have been coming to Richmond. Your presence on the river was greatly appreciated by the many racers. The best news is, we were done and off the course by 8:45!

I second the big thank you. The XTerra was a great experience.
