LY at long last...

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

LY at long last...

Post by thisendup »

Well, after 8 months of trying to get up there, I finally made my pfd of the LY. HUGE thanks to my BRO and young James for making the trip and keeping me pointed in the right direction. Despite an iffy forecast: snow, temps in the high-20’s to low-30’s, and low water ~1.4’, they stepped up to get me down. Turns out, the snow was just an accent and inconsequential, the temps were in the mid-high 30’s, the river came up to 1.75’, and we had a fantastic paddle!

What a fun river! Highlights were making my pfd with my Bro & James, the great boof somewhere between C&W and Railroad, practicing strong ferries in Cucumber, the Frog’s Back, Swimmers, getting my bow on the foam pile of hole #2 after missing the s-line at Double Hydraulic, and the DQ Moolatte. Lowlights: missing the s-line @ DH, the not-nearly-a-smear @ BofW, and the silly curler that I let stern flip me—ending my dry hair day!

Thanks again to Brandon and James for the fellowship and wary eyes, and to KessmanN for letting us use his angry abode! Look forward to the next time!

Brian - Nice job out there lacing up the creekier side of the LY! Glad we finally got you to travel. Had alot of proud moments finally getting to see you run some new features. Hope you make it back up there soon. Now all we need is some rain to fill up Goshen so you can take a whack at the Pass.

Good job, Brah!

Big THANKS shout out to KessmanN for graciously letting us crash at the Triple K.
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

Great job Brian. I figured you would not have a problem at all lacing that one up. Thank you for the invite as well, sorry I could not join you guys. I have an aversion to water below 50 degrees(to cheap to buy a dry suit). I hope to see you guys OTW some time in the spring.
It was impossible, so I did it. Now everyone can do it.
