KesSmanN's Creeking Clinic 10/3, Lower Yough

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

KesSmanN's Creeking Clinic 10/3, Lower Yough

Post by DJeffSmith »

GREAT CLASS -

Many thanks to Dave for the "rockin" class he put on for me and Brandon this past Saturday. 8+ hours of concentrated instruction starting with films and pictures of the concepts on Friday night, then an all day Creeking session on Saturday.

Before I took the course:
1. I felt like I was a passenger to my Creek Boat (Jackson Mega Rocker) when paddling it. It honestly felt to me that the boat had a mind of its own and I was along for the ride.
2. I was LUCKY to nail a good Boof and had no idea what a smear was.
3. My surfing sucks in both playboat and of course Creekboat

After the course:
1. Feel 100% better in my creek boat. I still need practice - but I have in my head what I need to do.
2. I can hit a decent boof/smear and when I miss it, I know what I have done wrong.
3. Did a 360 at Swimmer's in the Rocker (Got stuck side surfing after that...). So - feel that I am on my way.

Thanks Dave - your Creeking Course and Triple K hospitality are un-matched.

I concur!! :D There's nothing better than 8.5 hours of undisturbed instruction by KessmanN on a deserted Lower Yough. Definitely the most fun I've ever had on the LY

I walked away from the class with the proper terminology and execution of a smear and am much more confident doing it. I refocused my boof technique and even got some combat roll practice after botching the Cucumber boof  One of the key things I walked away with was a new appreciation of stroke execution and efficiency.

Best value in creeking clinics to be had! Thanks to Dave for the awesome instruction and, as always, generously hosting us at The Triple K. Can't wait for KessmanN's Advanced Creeking Clinic (hopefully coming next year)
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke
