Hi, Tim. Enjoy your move to upstate New York. I know a canoer that is pretty knowledgeable about the Hudson area (at least the Hudson River and the gorge section). I don't have his contact info. to pass along to you, but if you go to cboats.net and look for "Sir Adam" (Adam Pearsall), he is the one you want to contact. You can also post a request for info about the area on the message board (you just have to set up a login). Quite a few boaters on that board know the area well and should be happy to help you.
