Yet another great Gauleyfest OCT weekend!

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

Yet another great Gauleyfest OCT weekend!

Post by bambam »

Thanks as always to Dave K for pulling this one together.

Friday was the lower Gauley at a normal release level for most of us and we had a big gang. We were able to rather informally break into sub groups and so weren't so much our own crowd. The lower Gauley dealt out some carnage, some harmless, some not so harmless. In my case I was only bleeding in a few places (jus' flesh wounds, luv, no worries). Kayak for me on that day. Special thanks to the Canada's for making shuttle easier.

Saturday found another big group breaking into subgroups on the New River Gorge. The water level was right around zero which is much better than it sounds for that run. Canoe for me. Special thanks to the Canada's for making shuttle easier, again.

Sunday found eight of us hitting the New River Gorge again at about the same level and this time we had the river to ourselves which really kicks it for me. The New is always a great run but adding the peace really makes for a special day. Big thanks to John VL for chasing the shuttle entirely away.

Thanks again Dave!

Cheers,

Ken Dubel

On the Lower Gauley there were about 20 folks.

Saturday on the New River Gorge there were 30-35 with another 8-10 on the Upper New and some others on the Upper Gauley.

There were about 6 on the Upper Gauley in my group on Sunday and it looked like about another dozen on the New River Gorge with Wade.

Thanks to all of those who came and helped make this year another success.

Also, thanks to Wade for posting these photos:
