OCT Saturday April 27 Jackson River

For the spring Coastals gathering, we'll paddle 9.5 miles of the Jackson River, Johnson Springs to Petticoat Junction, with the option of taking out 2 miles sooner at Indian Draft for those going to the meeting. This is a class I-II run. For those staying at Douthat State Park, we'll meet at 9:30 at the Camp Malone Pavilion, and will meet others at Petticoat Junction at 10:30. Hope to see you there.

Just a heads up for those of you paddling the Jackson River this weekend. Today's water temperature is 46°. Dress for it.

Weather Channel Covington forecast for Sat. at 10AM Sunny
53 degrees/wind chill 47 degrees
Winds WNW 18 mph

3PM Sunny 65 degrees/windchill 64 degrees
Winds WNW 13 mph

If on Friday the Saturday forecast remains the same I may bring my bike for the bike Trail along the river. The wind is not good for solo canoeing in a 16 ft. tandem canoe......read....river barge.
