Gauley Fest 2012

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

I wanted to post a quick message and thank you folks for letting me camp with you over this past weekend. While I didn't meet everyone, I met and paddled with a bunch of great folks.

Great folks paddled with : Many!

Thanks again and I look forward to paddling with you all in the future.

A huge thanks to me being so awesome!

And to KessmanN and all of the others that helped make the weekend great! 8)
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

big thanks as well to all that made the trip such a great one, in particular to Dave K once again for all the logistics involved with keeping the chaos moving both towards and down stream; hazmat, tom, and Mango for going the extra distance to help annie get on the water, and everyone who took Harley in hand while she was on walk-about's exploring West By God Virginia. Happy to say all three of us were big smiles all the way home.

Thanks to all that made this happen. I had a great time.
I had my PFD on the NRG on Saturday with one swim at the bottom of Lower Keeney.
Sunday I ran it again with only a roll in Middle Keeney.
Thanks to Ken and Alicia for showing me down.

Thanks Ken!
Max is happy that you got his good side.

I was hoping that you didn't get me almost falling out of the OR at the bottom hole.....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

I'm thinking Max doesn't have a bad side. One handsome dude.

I'm also thinking that almost falling out is kinda like leaning on a good brace to avoid a flip!

Cheers,

Thanks for the pics, Ken. I swear that you get better at these everytime I see more of your photography "work".

Methinks now that you brought it out you have a little story to tell?

Hey! I ended the rapid upright, in the raft, and in a seated position with both of my oars attached to the shredder. It just wasn't a pretty run at all. I found out that the oars can be pretty dangerous weapons, if they want to be! A few bruises, a couple of wrenched muscles, and a bruised ego.

No permanent damage.
