W&L Student’s Maury Cleanup

A W&L student, Whit Rudder, has reached out for help with cleaning up the trash along the Maury River. Many of you will know the Maury lies entirely in Rockbridge County, so it’s no surprise that it’s a favorite of W&L students and alums. I’ve let him know about Alicia’s clean up in the pass...

Maury River from Alone Mill Rd to Lexington

8 souls made the trip. Highlighted by a cold, damp, DARK cave, and the potholes of Whistle Creek. All swimming was on purpose, so I get to write the trip report. Kismet, karma, fate, destiny? A nice afternoon, with good water (a little under 600 cfs, looking back at the gage graph, on the Rockbridge...

I paddled with Dave this weekend. He asked that I check with Tall Oaks CG about a group site, so I did. The upper pavilion is available. It’s $14/person/night. I booked it for Friday and Saturday nights. You’re all welcome.

OCT LOWER GAULEY, SATURDAY, 10/14 IS UNCANCELLED.

Not sure why Phil had to cancel. I know he really likes the Lower Gauley, so it must have been a good reason. Fortunately, Gromit really likes the river too, so the trip is back on the calendar for Saturday 10/14. We want to meet at Swiss takeout at 11 am on Saturday 10/14 to set shuttle. Camping at...

I have trips booked every day from Friday 7/28 thru Monday 7/31. No one ever showed any interest in any of the other available dates, so I'm pulling the plug and going home on the Monday evening. No hard feelings, I'd just rather sleep in my bed. Maybe it'll grow for next year. :D I'd also like to h...
