I would say at very low flows s ~1 - 2ft the cheat feels more like class III-III+ (11-12ft on the new gauge?). The holes in the three hardest rapids aren't as big, and the pourovers aren't nearly as prevalent. You'll be scraping some more rocks though. The lowest I ever ran it was 1.5 ft. We played ...

I have done the class III-IV sections of the cheat (canyon) and the tygart (middle fork into the tygart). I am more familiar with the cheat canyon. Logistically, it was easier for us to do since we always camped at the put-in by teeter's campground, and used glen miller's shuttle services. It is a f...

You can borrow my ezg50 for the time you are here. I'm ~6ft, 185lbs (182cm, 84kg). A little on the big side for my EZG50. I have a large and medium sprayskirt. One of them should fit you. I got a small head so I doubt my helmet will fit, and my extra pfd is a 12 year old extrasport old school pfd. Y...

Hogy vagy? Üdvözöljük a Richmondba (that's about how far my Hungarian goes) How long will you be here? I'm not sure where to rent gear, but I have a wavesport ezg50 that i'm going to trade up for a larger play/river running boat. ezg50 . My joints don't like being squeezed into that boat anymore. Yo...

welcome to VA fellow keelhauler. Hope you enjoy your new surroundings. I know I like it here.

I'm usually confined to the James, but on occasion I head up to the cheat area to paddle with the cleveland crew.

straight from the man himself: No release from Deep Creek. Flows were deduced by the time differences between the gauges. Oakland level is about 3 hrs upstream of put-in. Friendsville is 5 1/2 to 7 hrs downstream depending on water level. Higher levels, time is shorter. Muddy Creek is usually 1/2 of...

Re: Levels for Top Yough correction

BTW: The saturday level for the Top was around 400-500cfs depending on put on time and the level for sunday was 200-300cfs depending. If you are just looking at the oakland gauge for the top yough, you are missing the contribution from muddy creek, which spills in just below the first drops of the ...

We've got 14 signed up for the trip. The cheat will run all weekend between 2.0-2.5 saturday and 1.5-2.0 sunday. Still a chance of rain today so the sandy just may make it to minimum for saturday (keep your fingers crossed). We will put on at teeters campground around 9am and shoot for a 2pm glenn m...

C'mon Shaggy, time to work your magic! right now the sandy and the cheat are very low. There is rain predicted for the middle of the week. It might be enough to bring the cheat up to runnable levels. Wait and see. jer, there is an impromptu UY trip this friday, just posted on the keelhaulers site.
