Cancelled

Unfortunately we've had to cancell this due to ice. I'm going to try and reschedule in April.

Cancelled: OCT 3rd Annual Rappahannock River Ramble

All, It's time once again for the Rappahannock River Ramble. We'll be Canoeing/Kayaking on 1-2 February on the Rapidan and Rappahannock Rivers in Fredericksburg, VA. I've been in touch with the Virginia Outdoor Center and they are happy to have us back. It will be the same cost as last year, $7 per ...

Experience level?

What experience level is needed for this trip? I have my son up for a few weeks and I'm looking for a canoe/camping trip.

I swam

I learned a valuable lesson on the second day. 17' prospectors don't seal launch well. There's a picture somewhere, but I can't pull it up on the iPad. Had a great time overall!

Thank you both for the concern. The rivers are both falling again and should be at a nice level tomorrow and Sunday. The highest I've run them is 11'. It was fun because I had no idea what I was doing, and I only had to self rescue once. Ignorance truly is bliss. I wouldn't reccommend running it at ...

I won't be near a computer from shortly after I send this until after the trip. If you still want to come, but aren't on the email distro, show up by 9 Saturday.

Cheers,

Scott

Start time: I'll set the meeting time for 9am at the Virginia outdoor center (VOC) with a departure time of no later than 0945.  This will give us enough time to paddle, stop on the river for lunch, and play a little in the eddies.  My posted times for paddling are based on a slow paddle with severa...

Two more weeks!

It's been a twisty and turbulent path to get here, but I've finally got confirmation on everything.  Since twisty and turbulent is how i like some of my rivers, I guess I can't complain. Camping:  no ferrying across rivers to camp!  The VOC came through with a camp site for us at the low cost of $7 ...

Updates

The campground we use has gone out of business, so it looks like we will be camping on one of the many camp sites along the river. There is still a possibility of camping at the Virginia outdoor center, but it's not certain. So far we have 8-14 people on this trip. There will also be an optional pot...

Ideas for a 3 day 2 night trip

Im looking for ideas on a holiday weekend 3 day 2 night canoe and camping trip. I would like to camp on the river, either at a campground, or on public land, but I don't like the idea of stealth camping if I can avoid it. If any of you have done trips like this I would appreciate the info. I'm willi...

If you camp, where will you be camping? It's a long drive for me to do a day trip, but I might be up for an overnight pending approval from the house.

Sounds great! Look forward to paddling with you.

Once we get a rough estimate of who's comming, I may check interest for a pot luck. I've posted this on several forums, so I usually consolidate it to an email as it gets closer to Feb.
