Re: Kayak Saved - Video of a Rescue

Curiously the link I'm seeing is to an order at Crutchfield.

O.C.T. Maury below Indian Pool Sat Sept 12 will move to Balcony

The gauge I use for the Maury below Indian Pool is at Rockbridge Baths. 11 cfs. We need about 50 times that amount to start thinking about the section in the title. If the trip proposed below doesn't have any takers then we can hike the nearly dry stream bed looking at what is under the ordinary rap...

Re: O.C.T New River Rendezvous Labor Day Weekend

I am seeing reliable-looking correspondence indicating that the road to Cunard is now open but that a portion of it is one way. I have also seen reliable-looking correspondence indicating that the roads to the Glade Creek section are also open.

I think the whole game is on!

Re: NB Potomac Release this weekend, 8/22-23.

Regrets, our possibles for Sunday at Bloomington are out. I get it that it's a long way to go for one day of paddling but you remain welcome on Saturday.

Regrets but the Sunday Bloomington possibles didn't pan out. Our group will still be running it on Saturday if anyone is interested.

Re: NB Potomac Release this weekend, 8/22-23.

Hi Don. We have a small group planning to run the North Branch Potomac, Barnum to Bloomington, on Saturday. There are a couple more who might be interested in Sunday but I'll let them chime in themselves if that comes true. All are quite capable paddlers. One is a first-timer who has paddled more di...

Re: Class II Summer Gathering New River in WV July 18 & 19

My best guess (and I've studied it some) is that all things New River in West Virginia will have calmed down by Saturday and that we will enjoy nice water levels.

Re: O.C.T. Saturday 6/20 - Balcony Falls

I'll be out of town for your trip, regrets.

From my notes:

11/23/08: Probably lowest ever for me. 1.95 at Buchanan, 378 cfs there plus 109 Maury at BV gives 487. We managed to find routes through everything but choices were limited.

Quarterly gathering at Balcony Falls

Jenny Wiley and I merged groups and moved both our scheduled Maury trips to the James at Balcony Falls. We enjoyed a gang of around twenty boaters on Saturday, April 18. We had the expected moderate water level and it was my first t-shirt boating day of the year as it was unseasonably warm. The wate...

Re: Sat, April 18, James River @ Balcony Falls

Thanks to Jenny for getting this thread going. I was out of town early in the week and worked way to much for the rest of it. Looks like we'll have around 1,200 cfs combining the Buchanan gauge on the James and the Buena Vista gauge on the Maury. This is a mild flow, not too boney. I'm seeing a high...

Re: The paddling portion of Goshen Pass CLEANUP, Cookout & Paddle 3/21 OCT

We are expecting storms tomorrow, Monday. I doubt they will be enough to keep Goshen-related sections of the Maury running through Saturday but stranger things have happened. Well, stranger things seem to have happened and I mean that in a good way. Monday's rains brought the Maury up quite nicely ...

The paddling portion of Goshen Pass CLEANUP, Cookout & Paddle 3/21 OCT

If you plan to join in the festivities then please let Alicia know by this Thursday so she can purchase appropriate portions of food for the cookout. We are expecting storms tomorrow, Monday. I doubt they will be enough to keep Goshen-related sections of the Maury running through Saturday but strang...
