2015 Goshen Race results are online
It was a beautiful day in Goshen Pass:

We owe a big thanks to Appomattox River Company, Pyranha Kayaks, and Werner Paddles.
Devil's Backbone Brewing came through with a healthy supply of refreshments as well.
Think Rain!

Alicia,
The Big Piney painted gauge was 1' yesterday at 3:30pm.
The Tye was dropping fast. It was 2.2 at 9 am yesterday. Piney had the most rainfall.

Statons
Terrain Park (last rapid) was a walk, but the rest had some way to get past/under/over any wood in the way - at Fridays level (200 cfs Pedlar ga). At higher water there'd be more walking.

Piney
Ethan,
I haven't noticed a change at Switchblade, but I didn't get on it in the last flow either. We did move a lot of wood out of that entrance rapid a year or so ago though. We got on both Tye forks, Statons, and some other stuff recently. Think rain!

Glad you guys got some Cascading, Ethan!
Great watershed there.
The 1st drop is called "Switchblade" by the way.
Good lines,
GD

Piney
You can usually have a decent low run (minimum) on the Big Piney at 400 cfs. I wouldn't travel far for it at that flow but that is usually the bottom. It was a little over a half-foot Tuesday at 5:45pm on the painted gauge, and that was a fine medium-ish flow for the Big Piney (Upper Piney). The zer...

Goshen bigwater shuttle
We paddled Goshen in the late 90's when it was well into the 5-digit flows and the road was closed. We had to shuttle out on I-64 to the Goshen exit. At lower flows (but above 8000-10000?) we have had to sweet talk past a sheriff's deputy to do shuttle and even then there was shallow water on Rt. 39...

2012 Goshen Race results
Props to all who raced at our highest/best water level yet. There seemed to be more spectators than ever, but if they were expecting carnage they may have been disappointed. Some flips, but no swimmin'. The carnage thongs stayed in place - a slightly disturbing thought - with Trevar and Flip, for an...

New wood in Devil's Kitchen, Maury River 5/18/11
There is long tree wedged in the top-right of Devil's Kitchen. The tree is blocking almost all of the river-right lines from House Rock all the way almost to the right bank. This affects the "Inside Boof" line (nice boof just to the right of House Rk) and the semi-sneak line over there as ...

Wood in Goshen Pass / Maury R.
Like Bambam said, there is a tree/root ball wedged against the left side of "House Rock" in Devil's Kitchen. It is in almost the same situation as the tree where the fatality occurred not all that long agon. See: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/Photo/detail/photoid/42741/ ...for ...
