app on sat 9/13

Post by jfarrell »

i think the app will have enough water (maybe to much) for a run on sat, level s/b 3.1 to 5ft on the matoaca guage, brandon picks the meeting time (has to get home about noon) if he is comming, otherwise 10am. we can go higher on the max level depending on who goes

river was mostly washed (but pushy) out today at over 7ft, except for target, which had a very BIG wave at the bottom

sorry yoda about taking boaters away from your trip, but the app should have water on sat

post here if enterested

I'm in for sure, maybe. It all depends on my wife's class schedule and if grandma will watch the kids.

Post by Paddle Daddy »

I want to go but need as much advance info on time as possible if I am going to be able to get my childcare lined up.

I'll be there. It should drop to a good level by Saturday morning.

I really want to make an App run while there is still water. Unfortunately, Saturday is a no go for me. I talked to MotherDuck this morning and brought up the possibility of running it on Sunday AM. I'm not sure if it will still be between 4 and 6 ft, but that's going to have to be my play for the App this time. If Sunday at 8am won't work for the majority on this thread, I'll start a separate one for a Sunday run. SYOTR

P.S. - Jim, Thanks for the consideration on the schedule. :D My family appreciates it!

I'd like to join as well. I have not done the App before, so it will be nice going with some paddlers who have.

Well Jim, I worked a little voodoo on the better half and managed to get approval to do the 2pm run on Saturday. See you at the takeout.

I put it a notch below the lower James, but in places it is a but technical and narrow. It is really a great river and the really big rapid (Target Rock) has a "easier" sneak side.

I'd say at least two notches below the lower James if you sneak Jug Handle and Target Rock.
