OCT: 8/22 Over The Falls Race @ Ohiopyle

Post by DJeffSmith »

The Over the Falls Race is in Ohiopyle on Saturday, August 22nd. The plan for the Coastals trip is to:
1. Crash at Triple K on Friday night (see below).
2. Get up early on Saturday for 8am Race Registration.
3. Run the Falls during "practice" from 9am to 10am.
4. Run the Lower Yough at 10am (I have 10 extra permits at this time).
5. Crash & Cookout at Triple K on Saturday night
6. Early Sunday loops on the horseshoe

If you'n wants to join us:
A. Let me know (post on here or email)
B. Let me know if you need a permit (they are $3). First 10 can get one from me & the rest of ya need to get them from the State Park
C. Let me know if you are staying at Triple K, or if not where you'll be staying.

***If you are staying at Triple K there are a few tasks that could use your help (some painting, move an oil tank...), and/or the Ranch is in need of Supplies:
Napkins
Paper Towels
Cleaning Supplies
Dish SOAP
Coffee

If you got room in your vehicle - think Costco/Sam's Club Size (SUPER SIZE) and not Food lion size.

Any questions???

Let me know

I will see you at the Falls in morning and at KessmanN's!!!

I will prolly bring some supplies, since I'm not a big fan of manual labor
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

jeff, sent you a pm but not sure if it went though (It's still in my outbox?) anyhow, I may be game for heading up with you for a second crack at the LY. My last time was smooth and great except for a swim at Rivers End so I'm looking for a solid run this time. It depends if my side is feeling good (muscle strain on sat) and I can secure a carpool ride up. I am thinking of volunteering on sat as you all throw yourselves over the cliff  and then making runs on sat and loops on sunday if the body lets me. I am also game for the tripple k if that is an option as well (davek?)
hope this isn't redundant from the pm, lets touch base this week.

From where are you departing? I’m set for a ride but if Lynchburg is on your way and you drive something with room for a total of four people and three more boats, we can work something out.

Luke -

Cool on you coming - I hope that your side is better so you can. We have you covered for a permit. As far as car pooling: either I'll be driving up Friday (leaving about 3pm), or I'll be carpooling with the Kinkers or Bertrams.

Wade, Sejal, Steph - when are you all driving up and what kind of space do you have in the Mango Van/Subaru?

THANKS

Hello all,

I am still trying to decide on going, at this point I am leaning towards it, but also curious if there is another available permit out there for Saturday that I may be able to use.

(Luke I sent you a PM, if you still need someone to ride with I could be a possibility.)

Thanks,

Gibbie

Cool Katie,

We will need permits to run the Lower on Sunday, or you need to be on your way down the river before the park office opens.

David B. Is joining us as well.

Jeff - Remember what you asked me last week? Yes, I want to do all of the above. Hold a permit for me (at least until Thursday) 'cause I'm working the voodoo and have a glimmer of hope that I'll be joining yous guys on Saturday.

Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke
