So above 9 ft the permit and group size apply to the upper? I had just solidified my plans for this evening when this trip was canceled. I was looking forward to running this section when it has some play. Bummer. Next time, I guess.
TF - never paddled with you. Tell me about your mad skilz... Could be up for it, but like to be cautious with new folks I paddle with. Been burned too many times. Yes above 9' requires permit and I like to have at least 3 paddlers out at this height. Not a "Law" by any means - just what I live by.
Trolling for a third right now and will let you know if I hear anything.

Anyway, I've boated w/ TinyFrogs on the Lower at summer levels and he's definitely got the skillz for the Upper @ 9.5ft. Have fun
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke
Well, I have to be in Richmond tonight anyway, so I'm leaving early and heading to Pony Pasture/Reedy Creek to see if anyone else shows up to park and play or run the upper.
It's 78 degrees and sunny! A perfect evening to paddle!
