I would love a permit for the LY on Saturday. Also, is anyone from the Richmond area leaving Friday night and returning either Saturday night or Sunday morning and has room for one more man and a boat? If so, I would really appreciate a ride and pay my fair share for gas! Thanks,
Bobby

questions!

Post by sportskat91 »

Are there any permits left for Saturday? If so put me down for one. For people going again Sunday, what time are your passes for? Is there still room for camping with the group? Anyone from Richmond who will be coming back sometime Sunday after getting off river willing to take one more person?
Thanks!

Kathryn,

I think the Sunday LY passes are for 10am. Not sure about the camping situation, but I'll be coming back to Richmond/Chesterfield after the LY run on Sunday and have an open seat. Let me know.

Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

Got you covered on the Saturday pass, you are #30. :D
All my passes are taken, but there are still more to be had for our times (11am & Noon) on Saturday on the PA Parks site (16).

For Sunday, all the 10am passes are gone, so get a 9am pass. There are others going on the 9am slot or just wait to get on
at 9:50 and wait for the 10am group. There are 18 passes for 9am still on the PA site.

I don't know the situation on camping, but you can call Benners at (724) 329-4097 and make a reservation for the Coastals site.

Glad your coming Kat, say hey to your Dad for me. :D

I have a ride home Sunday if needed but I still need a ride out there on Friday. Anyone have an extra seat and room for extra gear?

Mango, let me know if there are anymore cancellation for the trip. If two spots open up, I think Kelly and I would like to go.

Really? I can actually paddle with Jackie? I just thought we were going to be on a section of river that she had paddled sometime on her ascent to the top of the boating world. This is unbelievable!!!! I actually get to see her style the river and I *might* even get to speak to her! I'm SUPER STOKED! I CAN'T WAIT TO PADDLE WITH JACKIE!!! :D

Paddle with Jackie at the Summer Gathering

Post by Max K »

I was picked up by Hanover County Animal Protection Gestapo  , on totally trumped up charges  ,
and put in the Pound. As my last hours were ticking away, Jackie 8) led a daring rescue and saved me
from…..well you know what they do to, uh…misunderstood puppies! She then placed me with a very
nice family. And even though that didn’t work out, I did end up with Mangles and well……that’s still
better than the alternative! :D

Thanks Jackie! 8)

Be-speaking animals...

I was fortunate enough the past week to be in the presence of greatness. Jackie's agent called and mentioned that she would be paddling with us during Week of Rivers and I couldn't contain my excitement. If it weren't for her uncanny ability to communicate with the wildlife both under the water and in the air, every rapid would've resulted in a swim. A nudge from a fish, a head-duck from a flying bird... they all put me safely at the take out. I can't explain how fortunate I was to be in the same place as such natural ability. If I can keep it together I can't wait to have keep me out of trouble on the Yough... one could only wish. Check out the picture below; cleaning Corkscrew on Section 4 of the Chatooga... then rounding up the flock. sigh...Image<a href="http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/ff10 ... I was on a Russell Fork Trip with Jackie last year, when an Angry  Bear attacked our camp!
We were all panic stricken until Jackie told us not to fear, she was there and
she fought that bear off. We owe our lives to Jackie.

Thank Jackie! 8)
