O.C.T. Upper New June 24-25 Revised Update

Post by Raymond »

The trip is still scheduled to go. Due to the low water, we'll run the Surprise section on Saturday (Thurmond - Cunard). It's the shorter of the two sections and has less flat water.

On Sunday, we can run it again

I'm staying at Chestnut Creek Campground (304) 574-3136. It's just north of the NRG Bridge on the right.

For both days, meet at the NRG Visitors Center at 9:00 or be at the putin by 9:45. We're putting in at the Dun Glen parking lot at Thurmond. If you?re not staying at Chestnut Creek, let me know whether you?re meeting at the NRG V.C. or the putin.

Most people eat out on Saturday with the group; although a few cook in camp.

You don't have to camp where we do; some people get hotels (rare) or stay at a different favorite campground. As you as you're at the morning meeting place on time, that's fine.

New River

Gail, Rick, Heather and I are planning on coming unless something changes. I agree, I don't want want to do the upper section at the current water levels. It makes for a very long day in the boat. Hope for rain. Glad you got this trip off of Father's Day weekend or I would not have been able to make it this year. Will let you know for sure soon.

New Trip

Several of last year's crowd are planning to return, and we have a few new folks as well.

If anyone in the Raleigh/Durham area is going; I know someone who would like to carpool.
