Im thinking about taking a canoe/camping trip the day after Thanksgiving to burn off some Turkey. I'll start at Eli's ford and end either at Motts, old mill park, or city pier in Fredericksburg. Camping is on the Riverside somewhere around the confluence (there are a few good spots). If anyone is interested, let me know.

Sounds good. The weather won't affect my decision, but I might get vetoed by the house. So far it's a go, but I should know more by next weekend.

Also, if any kayakers want to go, but don't have room for camping gear, you can put some in my canoe next to the dog. :)

For sure! I'm unable to confirm that I'll be here those days. Our holiday plans are hazy to me atm, except the part where I agreed to do them ;) but I've been dying to go further down river than I can do in a day trip. Somerset is the farthest I can make it without leaving at sunrise.

Either way, I'll see what I can do about attending.

Thanks for the suggestion!

This is definately a go for me, cleared with the house. I'm hoping for some rain, before, and not during the trip, but I've done this at low water before and will again if necessary.

Do you think there would be enough water for a Aire Jag cataraft?

Not having any experience with them, I couldn't say. The trip is a lot of flat water, and I suspect the only places you may drag are 1 short rapid on the rapidan, the confluence, and 3-4 spots from there down.

Here are the American whitewater links.

If it gets to 2.8 at Fredericksburg, I think you'll be fine though.

Sounds great. I'm going to do a slow run tomorrow and Monday to get some fishing in, scout out the best camp sites, etc... There's another post for tomorrows.

Looks like I'm going to end up deer hunting both of those days, but I hope to tag along on a future trip.

No worries. I know who'll bring the venison for the next trip.

In February I'll be hosting the second Rappahannock River Ramble. We had the first one last year with around seven people from Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. I'll post more info on that next month. I'm hoping to get more people this time!

Checking for interest again so I can set a shuttle place and time.
