New log in Hollywood - Be CAREFUL and SCOUT!

Post by slo2rol »

Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

The tree is directly down river from Washing Machine. It is lodged in the rocks but shares the slot that goes through them. It is running parrallel to the current and it looks like it ends in a strainer. At 8.8' there was room to get under the log and get in trouble. I was lazy paddling left after Hollywood and unfortunately got to paddle this slot.

I'm pretty sure I was right behind you in said slot. It came up fast and didn't give a lot of options going around it once I was committed. If memory serves, the log was mostly out of the water at 8.8 and the main flow pushes you away from it. Still, it's a tight passage and when the shifting current flipped me it was too close for comfort.
