OCT Savage River Release June 7

Post by Paddle Daddy »

I am organizing the trip to the first of the two releases on the Savage this year. I am staying at campsite #87 at the Robert Craig Campground. Send me a PM if you are planning to come and include your mobile number. I will post more details on meeting plan, etc., as we get closer to the date.

Savage - paddle plan

Post by Paddle Daddy »

The release is from 10 am to 4 pm. Would like to get started early as possible so we can get in at least 2 runs. How would folks feel about meeting at the takeout at 10 am? I understand we park there and ride a shuttle bus to the put-in.

For those who are staying at the Robert W. Craig campsite on Friday evening, it is about a 20 minute drive to the take out. So we could muster for loading around the pavilion at 9:00, pulling out by 9:30.

Anyone who has experience with this shuttle, please chime in if you think I am proposing to start too early or too late.

shuttle

In the past we parked at the put in and caught shuttle back up, from what I understand you cannot park at the takeout. You can also camp at the put in but I hear its kinda a party scene.

Eastcoast 43 is correct you drive to put-in and park there.
they also ask for donation/shuttle fee, sign waivers, etc, etc at a tent/kiosk.
if you put on early the first shuttle back isn't too bad, after that it's a very lengthy wait in line.
the shuttle is a van/enclosed trailer combo, stack boats till full and then get in van, repeat!
you CAN park at bottom and set own shuttle, discouraged but folks do it. you will be told that parking on road side and other areas is prohibited but i've yet to hear of a ticketed situation.
if you plan to run laps using provided shuttle service, make your first one early.
see some of you there!

Ok, I had it backward. So if you are meeting us up there see you at the put in around 10.

I have heard from a bunch who will be at the campground Friday night. If you aren't meeting us there send me your mobile no by pm.
