Well didn't think there was a chance of this happening but with this rain/snow event and then warming temps there is a chance. Keep this trip on your radar for Saturday. Ill be watching the gauges and keeping everyone up to date. Message post or text if your planning on attending. 434- two4two- 114 ate. Chris

UPDATE: last nights rain has brought the river to good levels. Let's hope they hold for Sat. The question mark is going to be how the freezing temps today and tomorrow effect the drainage. Keep your fingers crossed.

Hiya Chris.

How are the roads on your side of the mountain? We had rain, then slush, then sleet, then six inches of snow today and now steadily falling temps [west of the Blue Ridge].

Do you have any idea if the Moormans will be accessible?

Cheers,

Ken Dubel

Ken, wonderful question. What good is great water conditions if you can't get there!! I have plans to do a recon mission out there tomorrow to check roads stained situations. I think we should be good to go. To better help the cause I am going to propose a start time at the crack of noon to meet at the store on route 810 before the road splits to go to sugar hollow. This is subject to change tomorrow after I check the road conditions. Sing out if you want to attend

Normaly I would love to do the dam at sugar hollow down but water is dropping so I think Doyle's river down to milling ton will be good to go for tomorrow. I am going out now to get a visual but as of now let's shoot for 12pm at the store at 810 intersection for at least that section. Again sing out if you plan on attending it's going to be nice warm day with good water.

I want to paddle, but I'm only 20% chance given some logistical issues. For those of us that don't know Moormans, what info do you have for the section you envision? AW indicates a wide range.

Don't wait for me when you meet.

Just got done looking at the river. Looks like we should have a enough water for the middle (route 810- millington) we should get a little bump tomorrow with warming temps. Still planning on 12:00 at the store. This is a class 2-3 run. Should be a nice day. Dont have much interest yet so let me know if your looking at this one. Backup plan if water drops too much will be the Rivanna which will be at a full 2-3 level. But I'll let people know if that happens. Chris 434-two42-one one48

Pretty sure it's the right store it's the second one on the street on the sharp curve on route 810. Hopefully the warm weather tomorrow will give us a nice bump in water

My son Brian and I will join you on Moormans. I've never been and don't know how to find the store on 810 where we'll meet. Can anyone say more?

I'm at 540-577-8452.

Paste Eric's Google Maps coordinate numbers into Google Maps and you can get precise directions from that:

This trip based on the gauge and refreezing of water this morning is a question mark. I'll still be at the store at 12:00 and we can make the call from there. Backup plan will be to head back to cville and run the rivanna which has plenty of water. Directions to store take route 810 to white hall pass white hall store then in 100 yards there is another store at the curve where sugar hollow road turns off. See you all there. Hoping the warming day will start the snow melt water again
