Last Jackson River Pulse is Wednesday, 10/18/2017
All,
Alas, the last Jackson River Pulse Release for this season is Wednesday, 10/18/2017. The forecast is for sunny skies and a high in the low 70’s. For the new partakers, this is a fast 13 mile class I – II run, with some nice wave trains. There is one Class III- rapid right below the dam. You can choose to run it or skip it; your choice. Usually, about half the group runs the top rapid and the other half puts in just below the rapid. The put-ins are separated by a mere 300 yards. Bring a lunch and plan on spending the day with us. It is a good idea to bring a change of clothes for after the run. Have diner with us after the run. Join the caravan or meet us at Petticoat Junction take-out by 10:00.
Remember, this is a dam release. The water will be cold (upper 50 F) and the air temperature at the start is projected to be in the mid-50’s, so dress appropriately. The flow will be high, so anticipate strong and erratic currents in some places. Even though this is a relatively easy run, the high flow necessitates that everyone be strong swimmers. This is a strong novice or better run. No novices on the Upper Dam Rapid, please. This is not a beginner run.
Here is the caravan schedule.
Location Arrive
Seminole Properties, 100 Comdial Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901 07:00

Put-in at Gathright Dam, 100 Stilling Basin Road, Hot Springs, VA 24445 10:30
Please respond to this email or call to let us know you are going and where you would like to meet. If you have any questions or need maps, please let me know.

The last Jackson Pulse Release of the season was great!
All,
Well, the Jackson Pulse Releases are over for this season. I am sad to see these go. We have had some excellent turnouts for these events, especially considering they only occurred on Wednesdays. This past Wednesday was no exception. Despite the rather cool start to the day, we had 15 boats and 17 paddlers. The day started out at 42F, but warmed into the low 70s and the sky was clear and blue.
We have had some pretty accomplished paddlers join us on these paddles and I consider myself fortunate to have paddled them. This last paddle, again, was no exception. Stan Heatwole and Ed Gertler were among the other wonderful paddlers that joined us this time.
My thanks to all the good people that participated and enjoyed these outings. And as is the usual ... The weather was great, the water fast, the comradery excellent, and a good time was had by all.

Link to Pictures from 10/18 of the Jackson Pulse Release
There are way too many to post on the photo board. I'll narrow them down some for that. Here is the link to my Google Picture site. Down load anything you like. I still working on the videos.
