O.C.T. something class II / III along the Blue Ridge June 2
We'll paddle SOMETHING, but I have no idea what it will be at this point. Most small streams are primed but not running. The bigger rivers are a little high. There is rain in the forecast but it is scattered and tending to be heavy in small areas.
Please post back if interested.

Gauges are going all over the place with localized rains hitting here and there. I'm trying to find something class II / III within a half a zillion miles of the Blue Ridge that isn't too high nor too low.
Here's what I'm looking at as of 9:00 Thursday night.
Conway: Like it but it's flooding at the moment. Somewhat north of route 33 east of the Blue Ridge.
Covington: Pretty sure I haven't run it. It's on the more northern part of the Blue Ridge. Seems to be running at the moment.
Hardware Forks: Further south on the east side of the Blue Ridge. They are not as difficult as AW implies.
Maury below Indian Pool or below Rockbridge Baths depending on who's interested and maybe followed by a lap on Goshen Pass. Well west of the Blue Ridge but a bigger watershed and running right now.
Moormans below the dam. This one is further south sorta in the Charlottesville area. The AW write up calls it class I - III which is too low due to the steepness and the strainers. Fun run, thinking it is too high right now, may have blasted over the bridges.
Rivanna at Charlottesville is at 26,000 cfs and going straight up. This is a fairly small river. Egads, head for the hills.
Robinson and Rose show some promise. These are north toward Sperryville on the east side of the Blue Ridge.
The Tye, a favorite of mine, just doubled its flow from 1,000 to 2,000 in the past hour. Eesh. I was entertaining the idea of paddling from the Appalachian Trail footbridge on down, maybe mixing in something a little further upstream followed by a lap on the upper for those inclined.
====================================
In short, I don't know where any of this is going to go. So far, beyond the usual suspects who are lurking, I only have one person who has expressed interest. I will try to tailor this trip to those who express interest but if I don't hear from you then I can't do that.
Cheers,
Ken Dubel

I’m watching the moormans carefully it’s currently over 8 ft I have run it as high as 7ft but it’s a little pushy at that level with no eddies and not much room for error. This watershed drops quickly so I’m thinking sat could be in the 5ft ish range and that’s a nice level for this run. I’ll keep

Kayak-$1000 dollars...........Gas for the shuttle $60 dollars..........Watching your friends get munched by a bus-sized hole.......PRICELESS.
Haha, the joy of uncertainty, I'm composing this in Rockingham County hoping the thunderstorm crashing overhead doesn't knock out my power. I better cut the dither a little short.
Let's go to the Maury below Indian Pool. Meet ACROSS THE STREET from the post office in Rockbridge Baths at 12:03.
With zero rain and hopefully no fiddling at the dam we should have decent water that isn't too high. Watching the radar at the moment I'm not seeing so much going on right now in that watershed.
KA-ZANG! Big thunder just now.
For any unfamiliar I love this section of the Maury, especially at levels like I expect. It has plenty of gradient so there's a lot of action and features to mess with. I call it an honest class II / III.
