July 21st Sun.Tube Float Upper James Memorial to Malika H.

Post by Stan Heatwole »

Malika Heatwole, my 47 y.o. Daughter lived in Richmond and died on June 6th this year. It was not expected. She has a number of friends who live in the Richmond area and since many of them are not boaters we decided to do a Memorial Tube Float in her honor. She loved animals and nature and often paddled with me. She often did the fall Coastal trip on the Shenandoah. I have enough float tubes for anyone who wants to come and also PFDs. If you want to bring your own PFD and want to paddle instead of tube that will be fine. We plan to meet at the Pony Pasture parking lot at 10 am and float to the Nature Center at Reedy Creek. The float is on Sun. the 21st of July.

I realize this is in conflict with the summer meeting at Glen Maury Park but thought some people might still be in the Richmond area. All are welcome. Forecast is for a hot day which should be good for floating.

My deepest sympathies to you, Stan.
A memorial float sounds like a sweet tribute.

My condolences to you, Stan. I hope you had a good turnout for the tube float, and lots of great memories were shared.
