Last Jackson River Pulse Release is Wednesday, 10/16/2019
All,
Okay, last chance this year! The last Jackson River Pulse Release is Wednesday, 10/16/2019. Maybe we will even get some good Fall foliage.
For the new partakers, this is a fast 13 mile class I – II run, with some nice wave trains. There is one low class III rapid right below the dam. You can choose to run it or skip it; your choice. It is a good idea to bring a change of clothes for after the run. Join the caravan or meet us at Petticoat Junction take-out at 10:00. Timing on the pulse is everything, please be prompt.
Remember, this is a dam release. The water will be cold (low 50 F), so dress appropriately. The flow will be high, so anticipate strong and erratic currents in some places. Even though this is a relatively easy run, the high flow necessitates that everyone be strong swimmers. This is a novice or better run. Only experienced paddlers on the top rapid, please.
I will be leaving Charlottesville at 07:30, if anyone wants to carpool. I will be at the Lexington Wal-Mart, on 1233 N. Lee Hwy, at 08:30ish, if anyone wants to meet there. And will be at the Petticoat Junction put-in, on 200 Mays Lane, Covington, by 10:00 AM.
Please respond to this posting or call to let us know you are going and where you would like to meet. If you have any questions or need maps, please let me know.

Last Jackson pulse release
Very disappointing. Everyone backed out. Insufficient people to make the run now.
