OCT James River, Richmond Upper and Lower, Sunday, June 16, 2024
JJ Festa will coordinate the upper portion of our trip. Those also doing the lower will join the upper group and then proceed downtown with Jenny Wiley leading that portion of the tip.
The folks who only want to do the upper (Put-in at Pony Pasture and Take-out at Reedy Creek) please meet at Reedy Creek parking lot at 10 am sharp as I will set shuttle at that time.
Jenny Wiley will coordinate a trip for those who would like to continue downstream from Reedy Creek and paddle the class III+ rapids. Paddlers who want to paddle both sections (upper and lower) will meet at 10 a.m. at 14th St take-out to organize shuttle up to Pony Pasture. Please contact Jenny directly no later than Friday night if you are planning to paddle both sections.
Do not just show up, let the appropriate coordinator know you want to join the trip please.

Thanks, Ian. I'm aware of the wood and hoping the rafting company will remove before Sunday. If not, we may run Cemetery Rapids instead.

JJ - many thanks for coordinating this paddle. I will be joining the "Pony Pasture to Reedy Creek only section" of the paddle. I will see you at the Reedy Creek parking lot at 10:00 as requested. For shuttle purposes, I offer that I will be driving my Silver Toyota Sequoia with room for 5 souls (1 driver + 4 passengers) and 3 total kayaks (mine + 2 others) on roof. I have made this run 10+ times. This will be my first on the water this season. Looking forward to being out on the water with the group. See you at 10:00 Sunday morning at Reedy Creek Parking Lot.

JJ - many thanks for coordinating a delightful paddle on Sunday - while the water was low, we successfully "creeked" rock gardens with some fun shoots - I only had to "scootch" 3 times on veg covered rocks. Such a beautiful day that the RVA river goers packed into both Pony Pasture and Reedy Creek parking. Until next time - "see you on the river"!
