This is a little early to post an ad-hoc paddling trip but there are two of us who plan to paddle on Monday 01/16/06. It is a Government Holiday so I realize that not everyone will be available to paddle . Anyway, Helene (aka RiverWuss) and I have planned to meet at 12 noon at the new takeout to paddle the Lower James (if not to high for her ). Anyone else interested (I know, too far in advance)? Post please if you are interested . If you play hooky we promise not to tell .
Hi guys, we need to keep the river trip on the lower James . RiverWuss will be in transit between Norfolk and DC with a stop in Richmond to paddle the James on that Monday. We can run the App this Saturday 01/07/06 and I would be up for that if the river is not to high .

What qualify's as TOO high, middle of the red on the bridge gauge.Or in the BLACK
5-6' on the USGS is a good UP level for me.I'm guessing a bit higher for some of you katz.
?I?am with the government and I?am here to help you? . Sorry, I had to do that. Since I am still recovering from shoulder surgery I am going to keep my level of paddling down to a low roar on the App. I will say not above 6? and I take the Girl Scout route at the end. If higher I will walk the bottom drops. If the App is on for Saturday 01/07/06 then we need to start another thread under trips.
To All
The following URL has a forecast of river level based on rain prediction and where the ?slug? of runoff water will be on the river in time. This is only a forecast (like your weather report) and should be taken as seriously. However, we should plan on having a couple of river routes in mind.
1. Between 5.12? and 6.3? the standard Lower James route.
2. Between 6.3 and 7.0? Hollywood or Cemetery and Triple Drop
3. 7? and above - Those that feel like having a high water run, may want to run the lower with your choice of routes. The others to run the Upper James.
Just a few options should rain fall be as predicted and water levels rise as forecasted as of 4:00am 01/13/06.
I trust you guys' judgment about what we'll run - you know I'm not a sik boater by any means The question is - if we're not running to LJ, where would we meet? Let me know by email if you can - thanks!

ok, see you at the "regular" take out (the only one I know, but I know it's the new one for you guys)
Yoohoo! Haven't been on a river all week - I can't wait! Have been re-playing the Hollywood rapid in my mind since New Years Day and I promise I'll nail the line this time
