Hi All -

I'm paddling an Upper Run tomorrow night taking Becky (a newbie) down for the first time. Anyone care to join us?

Don't worry. Jeff's truck can carry twenty boats, and it's equipped with autopilot*.

* - autopilot no longer available on Jeff's truck.

Disclaimer - any similarity to an actual Bud Light commercial is purely intentional.

Oh! And I'm considering this trip myself :) Think we'd be off the river by 8?

Becky and I will both be coming from work so we'll each have our cars. Let's meet at Reedy, load my truck and all head to PP. Becky and I can get our kayaks onto her truck then and she can shuttle me back at the end. if we start at 5:30 - I would expect to be off the river by 8ish.

Lucie and I have to go to a school banquet or we'd love to join you. If you want to get out again Friday after work let me know.

Pretty sure Joan and I are going around 5:30 also

I think Joan and I are gonna do a Upper run tomorrow evening also. Hopefully we'll hook up with you all. Are you meeting at Reedy at 5:30?

Ughhghghgh I keep forgetting that I am truckless this week. I'm out unless someone wants to make a minor detour to pick me up.

I can have all my gear ready and I do live very near Reedy Creek.

I plan to be there.

Above poster, you don't have to ask and wait for response. Just show up.

Other trips might not follow this form of invite. But I am sorta new to coastals and worried about it myself a couple weeks ago. If people post here for the upper they expect people to come. If they want an invite only trip you are never going to hear about it (unless you're invited)

I would like to add that out of 8 or so trips in the past couple of weeks I have only paddled with 3 or 4 people more than once. A lot of these trips have had 8 to 10 paddlers.

I must have met over 30 to 40 people in this time. What a great community.

Actually if you are new to a group it is nice if you let the others in the group know about your paddling experience. It let's those paddling know how to watch out for you and what to expect.

My first posting for the Lower was something like "Newbie to the Lower checking if this group would mind taking me down with them? I've paddled upper 5-6 times, don't have my roll - but will wait a long time for a T-Rescue."

Just my thoughts and what I like when posting a paddle on the Forum.

See you all tonight.

I guess too, since I didn't create the first post I should have let you answer.

If you go and if it starts to lightning, stay near the shore line, keep paddling. Flat water and the golf course being bad places.

Good Point Kayakah! I hadn't checked the weather.

I just looked at the map and there is a pretty big front right on top of Richmond. We're suppose to have scattered T-Storms straight through tonight. I think we are more in the mode of "when" it T-Storms, not "if." I'll check the weather at 4pm and post if I am going or not. Right now it doesn't look good.
