"Southern Trip" SNAFU

Scheduling has never been my forte. We're going to have to pull the plug on the trip south. I have too many irons in the fire to make that trip. As a consolation prize, I'd like to extend an invitation to one and all to join us for another weekend in WV from Friday 10/10 thru Sunday 10/12. It's closer to home, the rivers have water and offer something for everyone. Gromit and I would like to get on the Lower Gauley again if we can find someone to point the way. There's also several sections of the New River, the Upper Gauley and whatever else might tickle your fancy. Think of it as Kessmann's trip redone. If there's enough interest, we can get Burnwood again, otherwise we'll stay at Ray's in Hico. Post here if you want to go.

u's wanted to go on a road trip, do Russell Fork Saturday, then we might get lucky and find the Nolichucky is running on Sunday.

I'd be up for a West VA trip that weekend. In fact, already have Friday off ( how convenient is that?) Count me in.

Wallace, I am here, kinda.
I was about to post when my buddy backed out for work

His car can make it in the mountains. Mine can't
Also, I can't hang on the lower G. I'm not even sure if I'm ready for the NRG at low water.
So I've been waiting to see (a) if there's any other interest in [s]sissy[/s] softcore-to-mediumcore runs, and (b) if anyone's coming from/thru Cville.

Brian, I wouldn't call any whitewater a "sissy" run. I haven't paddled with you lately, but I'd say you'd be OK on the Gorge at the level we saw 2 weeks ago. I think it was -2 ft. We can help out with a ride if need be. We'll make a decision to go or not by next Wednesday. Joe, if you need us to commit sooner, let me know.

I will take a look at the AW page for the Gorge and make an informed decision regarding my abilities this weekend. Any other rivers on your mind I should check out? It's been a long dry summer since I paddled with you, but I'm all full of confidence and excitement after taking my new (used) boat out on a class II practice run. I picked it up at Gfest after rafting the upper, and I'm still in attack mode
But I digress -- thanks for the ride offer, and I'll get back with you after the weekend.
