Plans are to meet at 10 a.m. at the 14th St take-out. Put-in will be Pony Pasture. If anyone only wants to run the upper (easier) James, we can leave shuttle at Reedy Creek on the way to Pony Pasture. Please let me know if you are planning to come and/or if you need additional info. Directions to take out are posted in another section in the 'Want to paddle now?' part of the forum.

I'm planning to run the upper only, with my family and another family (7 people all together). I didn't check the schedule to see your trip posted, so we were planning an independent trip, but since we'll be on the river at the same time we'd be happy to paddle together with anyone who wants.

Because of the number of people and boats, we're planning to drop off people and boats at Pony first (at 10 am), and shuttle vehicles to Reedy and drivers back, to put on the river around 10:30 or a little later. We'll have 3 kids in our group (ages ranging from 9-14), so we'll likely stop for lunch on an island halfway down.

I'm interested in this trip, too. I'd like to do the whole trip, including Hollywood and Pipeline, unless any traveling partners really only want to do the upper section. I'd also consider other options at this point (although I don't know of any, really), so put me down as "Almost Definite." I'll confirm tomorrow after moving my son out of his room in Rockville, Maryland, tonight. Ugh!

That's fine, Paul. It will be nice to have some experienced paddlers along as well as some kids. Sounds like we will be at Pony Pasture around the same time.

Ron, hope to see you there on Sat. You're right -- not much else running nearby now.

Jann & I are planning on doing the upper. We plan on arriving at Pony Pasture at 10 to drop off boats and shuttle my truck to Reedy. I will need a ride back to Pony Pasture.

See you Saturday

This is exactly the type of paddle day that I'm hoping to start attending.
This weekend I'll be doing the SWR Class, but hope to meet up w/everyone very soon!

If your SWR class is at Pipeline, we'll probably see you. Hopefully, though, our group won't be 'clients' for your group!

Since I plan to paddle both the upper and lower sections and it sounds as though both Barb and Robin will want to drive themselves so they can get together with Richmond friends after paddling, I'll drive myself and meet the Coastals group at the 14th Street takeout where Jenny will set shuttle. We'll make sure we don't forget to pick Joey up at Reedy Creek on the way to Pony Pasture!

If anyone else from the Charlottesville area wants to paddle both sections and share the ride, I'd still be happy to do that. I'll plan to leave by 8:30 also.

P.S.--Bob Whaley just called and kindly offered to let me ride with him, so we'll be together. This trip will be known as the "Confusingly-Similar-Last-Names" trip--Jenny Wiley coordinating, Ron Wiley (no relation, as far as we know) and Bob Whaley paddling!
