Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

For those of you wondering, the UG at 1500 / 1600 cfs is hard class IV. ... Iron Ring is still best portaged at 1600 cfs.
I've never run it at 1500 but will add a couple of notes from runs at 750 and 1000. Comments I've heard from various peanut galleries regarding low flows on the Upper Gauley range from "no big deal" to "more difficult than at full release".

I've only run it twice. In 2002 a large group I was in had several paddlers run Iron Ring, many with horrible lines. The worst one had the fellow run the bank left crack upside down and backwards. He rolled up at the bottom with a mildly fat lip. All others were forgiven.

In 2006 a small group I was in all portaged but one very smooth boater who decided to run it. He got pushed not quite so far left and did a gorilla hop between the two boulders there. The following day a raft customer swam the same line, got sucked down, and drowned.

There are plenty of more-fun drops to be had out there.

Yous all keep it safe out there, eh?

Enjoyed the reports,

Ken

Great pics, too bad it's a threadjack.
I used to be a paddler, now I just play one on the Innaweb.

Soy el Cristo Pecho
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.
