After a lower than ideal run on the Upper Piney, a few folks headed upstream to see what the Cascades were doing. I stopped back by a few days later while heading back into town.
Enjoy:)

"Sweet and Dandy" by the Toots and the Mytals.
One of the pioneers of modern reggae music.

Glad you guys got some Cascading, Ethan!
Great watershed there.
The 1st drop is called "Switchblade" by the way.
Good lines,
GD

Gordon,
Thanks for the beta! Do you know if the entrance to switchblade has changed in the last few years? I don't remember being able to so easily put in just above the drop. I recall from previous scouting that I thought you had to run the tricky entrance drop just above the main drop.
What were you able to get on with the recent rains?
Cheers,
Ethan

Ethan,
I haven't noticed a change at Switchblade, but I didn't get on it in the last flow either. We did move a lot of wood out of that entrance rapid a year or so ago though. We got on both Tye forks, Statons, and some other stuff recently. Think rain!

How is the wood situation on Staton's?

Terrain Park (last rapid) was a walk, but the rest had some way to get past/under/over any wood in the way - at Fridays level (200 cfs Pedlar ga). At higher water there'd be more walking.

Terrain Park is one of my favorite drops on the run:(
