The Boats and Brews Film Fest was a great success! With tremendous support from the outdoors community, www.coastals.org raised over $1600 for the James River Outdoor Coalition and was able to give the Rivanna Whitewater Park and Freedom to Float an opportunity to update us on their projects.

It is great that the paddling community recognizes the impact that the Coastal Canoeists makes throughout the state. There were over 200 people in attendance and the club got 15 new members and 30 renewals as a result of the Film Fest. If you'd like to support the Coastals, become a member.

A huge THANKS to *ALL* of the folks who did the work to make this event a success but special recognition should go to George Bowles, Hunter Davis, Chris Lawson, Katie Lemmert, Wade Kinker and Jonathan Dzielak. Great job. It should also be noted that Hardywood Park was a very accommodating host and waived the fees for the event to allow the Coastals to make a larger contribution to JROC.
