Karl?s Tellico Trip

Post by Dave K »

Thanks for the trip, Karl! The Tellico was huckalicious! I?m glad I finally worked up the nerve to run Baby Falls. Scooter, you missed a sweet day on Sunday but I understand that a gangsta like you has other commitments that require your time.

Too bad I missed the swim on the Ocoee but I had my hands full on the Tallulah Saturday.

So much for "what happens on the Ocoee, stays on the Ocoee"!!

That's right paddle fans I swam again! This time it had only been a few weeks since my last one, so I remembered how to do it really good.

OK here is the scenario. We were trying to surf the top wave at Double Trouble to no avail, we all tried like 2 or 3 times. So after an idea from Shrek I tried from the river right eddy. Needless to say it didn't work out as planned. After missing the wave and flipping in the Class Eleventeen eddy/rapid, I missed to rolls in "skyscraper" sized holes, while risking my life for the viewing pleasure of others I might add (well I did), only to have my paddle stolen from me by the biggest PaddleSnake I have ever seen . Persistent as I am I tried a hand roll, again obviously didn't work, which by that time I had been under water around 19 minutes and decided to pull out. Knowing that everyone else was out of their boat it was up to me to self-rescue, which I did while fighting the raging waters and watching my paddle float on down stream. Then to my aid came Paddleboy and Shrek who were able to pull said paddle from the mighty PaddleSnake's razor sharp and F-n huge teeth. In the mean time I had empty out and started hand paddling down to retrieve my gear, but unfortunately not my pride. :(

All BS aside SwmmrGreg and I drove down Friday night and camped with Paddleboy, Paddlegirl, Shrek, and Scooter at a cool campground right on the Ocoee. It poured all night and turned out to be a pretty nice day. After the run Kessman caught up with us for a fine gourmet type dinner including Swmmr Chili and Buz and Ned's Real Barbecue*

The next morning we drove over to the Tellico for a full run. Baby Falls was awesome and Jared's Knee was pretty hard. It was a great day.

Thanks for planning it Karl and the rest of the PBP!!

Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

It was big time fun. We had small crew but a good one. Here are some pictures of our attempts at Double Trouble. If the link does not work find the home page and look for my photos and private boaters. Due the other release and the rain on Friday we had the Ocoee pretty much to ourselves.

Speaking of Double Trouble, look who?s posting its PSNSJJ. We missed you on the trip this year, it?s not same without you. I know your working on the swift water rescue certification, but we could have used your skills this weekend. I personally had to do three rescues/gear chancing and missed some good play opportunities.

it's a good thing you put that clarifying statement on the end. otherwise, it might have just been offensive.

Here is a group photo from the Sunday paddle on the Tellico with Baby Falls and Diaper Wiper in the background. Meet the group from left to Right, Dave Myers, JoAnn Gordon Guy Colombini, Swimmer Greg and Angry Dave Kessmann on the bottom. Photo by Karl Gordon. Not pictures is Scooter Wagner, he had to scoot home on Sunday.

Looks like my ISP might be having some problems today. The picture above is not coming through and I can?t even open my web page. The problem doesn?t look like it?s a with my surf control at work so Cox?s must be having issues today.

It worked last night?

That my angry friend is an untruth, the corn board/page has been down. Just last year when I check on corny I got a message offering to sell the domain name.
