It's time once again for the Rappahannock River Ramble. We'll be Canoeing/Kayaking on 1-2 February on the Rapidan and Rappahannock Rivers in Fredericksburg, VA.
I've been in touch with the Virginia Outdoor Center and they are happy to have us back. It will be the same cost as last year, $7 per person per night. I'll be there Friday night (31 Jan) for anyone who wants to arrive early. I've also asked if we can get someome from Friends of the Rappahannock there for people who would like to buy River Maps. I'll be giving away another prize this year, the same map I've given out the last two years (The first year the give away was an accident, but it stuck). I'll have to come up with a different category other than furthest drive so someone that isn't from PA can win.
If people are interested in watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, I'll make a reservation at a local sports bar. I just need to know approximately how many people want to attend.
River Selection: I've been lazy this year, complaining about my sore back, so I havnt looked at any alternate routes. I've thought about the section above Kelly's Ford for Day 1, it's about 17 Miles though which may make a long day one The Eli's Ford to Motts will be our Day one trip if I can't scout the other sections. Day two will be the Motts to Old Mill Park again, because I fell out of my canoe and missed it last year.
Food: We usually do a potluck dinnetr Saturday night and breakfast Sunday Morning.
If you are interested, please let me know. If you want to be on the email distro, PM me you address and I will add you. Otherwise, I'll keep this post updated as I can.
Cheers,
Scott
