New Years Day Paddle 2016

Post by pearsaab »

I don't see the usual paddle but maybe I missed it. Planning to paddle noon and lower or higher will be dependent on level. Coastals if you are doing a trip I will modify accordingly.

Sorry, nobody signed up to coordinate the Chilly Chilli Paddle this year. :(
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

For the record, When Jim Blake asked The Corn Youth Alliance to keep the tradition alive it did!

The CYA ran it flawlessly for a few years until it was STOLEN out from under their control

Now, sadly, a tradition has died... :(
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

Stolen = didn't sign up for it after a few flawless years (which I must say I enjoyed the party at "Meat's" house). :D

It's not to late to revive it again, is the CYA coming to the rescue??!!

Guy,

The CYA can save the Chilly Chili. Don't let it die... If I was in town I'd be out there with you. One of my most fond memories was piling into the Corn Wagon with 12 other folks for my first Chilly Chili. There's gonna be good water and your play boat is calling...

May the CORN be with you...
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

Yay, noon time New Years lap with Amy and Marv? Count me in! I'll see if I can mobilize the RVA SwimTeam. Is there seriously no potluck meetup afterwards this year?

I belive I speak for the entire CYA in that, The Chilly Chilli was dead to us when it was stolen :!:

We now denounce it

I'll join you. I would be up for both upper and lower sections if the level isn't too high.
