All in all a good day. We had 12 paddlers in the group, including myself. Many folks have paddled this section before and we had 2 or 3 paddlers who paddled this section for the first time. The air temp was around 50 degrees while the water was about the same. Light rain and clouds persisted for the whole trip, while we had about a 30 minute downpour midway down the river.
There were a couple spills and thrills which resulted in a lost kayak foot peg, a drain plug and I think a small tupperware container. The three swims appeared to happen as a result of side-swiping rocks and getting tipped over. One incident caused a kayak to pin against a rock in knee depth water after the paddler was out of the boat. The kayak was easily recovered, emptied and the group continued down the river. There were no injuries to report.
The fall colors were peaking in the area and made for a spectacular view! I hope to do this paddle again next year during the fall!
