Seven Islands, Sat, June 21

Post by martha james »

I'm on the calendar for Seven Islands on Sat, but currently, the river is too high. I'm watching it and other alternatives and will make a call on Friday, but who's interested in something of the class II variety on Sat or even Sun?

I am in for any river that will accept me and keep me safe.

I'd like to paddle Sat and/or Sunday. FYI, it's looking like the Maury might be running. Terri

My guess is that Rockbridge will still be 2.0 or higher on Saturday. Here's my humble reasoning: I like cfs better for that gauge. 200 cfs is around minimum for me. Today the river dropped from about 2.95 ft to 2.63 ft. That's about the same as 800 cfs to 600 cfs. If it drops the same tomorrow, we'll still have plenty of water at 400cfs. Plus the Calfpasture River is still running above normal, so the Maury won't drop too fast.

Also note we got more thundershowers today, so other rivers might be up.

Seven Islands is my choice for Sat. We'll do Scottsville to New Canton. I've been wanting to do this for a long time so the high water should make it easier. (Getting in shape for WOR). Meet time is 10:30am in New Canton.

Sorry. I'm not going to paddle the James. Just too high for this body. Y'all have fun!
