New Paddler Wants to Run the Lower James

Post by MvillePaddle »

First off, when I say I am a new paddler, I mean that I am new to paddling in Richmond. I paddled for 2 years in college in Maryland and Pennsylvania, but have not paddled in almost a year due to lack of boat... BUT i just bought a boat, and I am ready to go!

I am not sure how the water temps have been, but I do not have a dry suit. I have a nice spray jacket, and can layer up underneath if necessary, but the warmer the air the better.

I work mostly evenings, so a morning or early afternoon trip would work best for me (probably on the weekend). If someone has a time and date in mind, feel free to post it. I have been waiting for this day all winter, so I'm very excited to get back on the water.

It's been since the fall since ive been in my boat. I too have limited gear, so i too have been waiting for the first warm day when im free. I'm free thursday morning, but i would be uncomfortable running the lower at 8ft, and it being so long since i've paddled. I'm down for the upper though to get warmed up for the year. morning trips are fairly good for me too.
dont be a sucka
