They cranked up the dam to 11,100cfs last night. That pretty much washes out the rapid at Weldon (the wave is 10 feet below the surface), but some whirlpools form at the top of the dumpster. I played the whirlpools w/ my Acrobat & the demo Maven. I'm a mere tadpole, yet I got down to my armpits. The stage at Halifax was 28.15, but it's still rising. I think it'll be good up to around 29' though. I'll probably get out again tomorrow afternoon to play some more.

The stripers are running, but the fishermen were freindly today. Luckily they didn't want to fish where I wanted to play. I'm sure I won't be so lucky this weekend.

At this level the only stuff to play on in a canoe are a couple of waves below I-95 &, if I remember correctly the side-surfing hole is still in at the s-turns.
Kerr's power declaration is 11,000cfs through Friday. Judging from the amount of water in Kerr Lake, the river will be high through striper season.
Let me know if you want to try a cquirt. I've got an Acrobat and I'll have the demo Maven till the Armada. I'm only 5 minutes from Weldon & can get out any afternoon & most weekends.
