Upper James Sunday 4/20?

Post by Mikey »

Anyone want to do an Upper run on Sunday morning? I think I'm stuck working on Saturday, and I need to be off the river by about 12 on Sunday, but I'd love to get a run in this weekend.
I love the smell of Neoprene in the morning...

I would like to run the upper along with my son. We both have never ran it and have 0 experience. So if you don't mind a couple of newbies with ya we can make it. Anytime is good.

I definitely want to run this weekend and just need to make some childcare accommodations. Sounds like this run would meet around 8:30 or 9 to get off the river by 12?

Yup. I'd say 9am at Reedy.

I'll try to make it. 9 is awful early, though.

Hey Dave, if you want you could meet me a Daniel and ride with us. Save some gas and show me how to get to Reedy. Or we could paddle at a later time.

Robbie, I don't think I can get there at 9am. If y'all want to go again at noon I can probably manage that. Don't ditch this group for me, though. I'm going to try to get up there on Saturday to do downtown. If I make that I probably won't come at all on Sunday.

I'm in for the Upper run on Sunday morning. See you at Reedy. 8)
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

A run on Saturday?

Post by Paddle Daddy »

Not trying to bail on Mikey - he knows I'll go with him anyway and I already have definite childcare for Sunday am - but I see the weather prediction for Saturday is better than Sunday, and I wondered if anyone might want to run on Saturday afternoon. If so, post or pm.

My names Frank and this would be my first paddle with the club.
I have not done the upper James and have done very little whitewater
via Kayak. I have done some ww canoeing years ago. I could do Saturday afternoon. The weather looks poor for Sunday, 80% rain. Someone could call me at 804-561-3924.

If it's actively raining (i.e. more than misting) I'll probably bail on Sunday morning myself. Unfortunately I can't paddle this afternoon, but I'm thinking about going out and swimming out there and getting some sun :)

Since I'm the one who started this, I'll post my cell phone number -
