With all the rain west, there is a chance that it might hold for next weekend too. Chesdin should be filling up and as long as there is water over the dam, you are in good shape. Keep me in mind if you do decide to run it. It is my favorite river by far.

Do keep in mind that there are some trees across the river that might get interesting above about 5 feet. When we ran the app last weekend it was at 4.5 and we were a bit tight under a tree or two... :?

The App is expected to be above flood stage by tomorrow. The gauge on Coastals' link page does not reflect current level. The National Weather Service has issued flood warning for App (see below). The strainers we avoided last w/e may not be an issue (i.e., underwater). OTOH, the bridge over Pipeline and the whirlpool near the bridge may be major problems.

Flood Warning

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WAKEFIELD VA HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR THE APPOMATTOX RIVER AT MATTOAX. * FROM LATE TONIGHT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...OR UNTIL THE WARNING IS CANCELLED. * AT 2:00 PM SATURDAY THE STAGE WAS 8.6 FEET. * MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST. * FLOOD STAGE IS 21.0 FEET. * FORECAST...RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY AFTER MIDNIGHT TOMORROW AND CONTINUE TO RISE TO NEAR 23.5 FEET BY MONDAY MORNING. ADDITIONAL RISES ARE POSSIBLE THEREAFTER. * AT 25.0 FEET... AGRICULTURAL AND SOME SECONDARY ROADS FLOODED. THIS RIVER LEVEL IS COMPARABLE TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 23.4 FEET ON MAR 8 1934.

Upper run 9 am Sunday morning. Meet at Reddie Creek for shuttle. I'm up for a lower run afterwards or just playing at pipeline depending on the level but I have to be at work at 1pm.

Looks like a downtown day! :D

9 am is the first lap, then maybe another at noon. EMAIL me if you need to contact me. Due to the small group and my bad roll, please - only those comfortable on the lower at this level - sorry!

I'll be at mayo takeout about 11:45-12. Running the whole (upper and lower) may be a good option.
