My stint in Costa Rica

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

My stint in Costa Rica

Post by kayakah »

Long story short.....chest discomfort, numerous EKG´s, Dr. Sanchez, 2 stints in my coranary artery. 5 days in hospital. Blackberry stolen, cash stolen, less than $100. (both in hospital). Credit cards not touched.
Have been living out of my back back for the past week...two tee shirts, two shorts and a tooth brush.
Hope to meet up with everyone tomorrow night for our last two nights in country.
Hell of a vacation so far!
Can´t wait to get home.

Record setting rains here for the past 2-3 weeks

Ouch Gene!

What a hell of a place for that to happen.

Get home soon.

Gene,

I'm really sorry to hear that trip report. It's bad enough to miss out on the deluge paddlefest, but to need cardiac surgery in Costa Rica; that really sucks. I hope everything turns out well and you get home soon.

SYOTR
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

Dang Gene! We could have hooked you up with some angioplasty in Country!!! Take care of your self. Hope the remainder of your trip is less eventful health wise.

If you have not done so I would notify your card companies to BOL for fraud they might have just jacked your card numbers.

Holy geebus, I guessing it wasn't you're first choice of cardio care.
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

I guess I will have to relinquish my board name of "Ye Olde and Decrepite". My 23 surgeries don't compare. Come out in the morning to paddle and we can talk Old Fart topics. See you when you get back.

Geez Gene! I hope beer isn't off the menu for you - it does a stint good.

Based on Scott's stitches story, I bet your hospital bill was about $75. Have a safe trip back and we'll see you when you get here.

Gene!
Just because I have not seen you in a few months does not mean that you can just jaunt off to Coasta Rica and get yourself into big trouble!
It just doenst work like that! Anywho, I expect to see you when you get home, well rested and feeling better!
Love you alot old man,

Wow, this certainly trumps Webster Springs General. Glad you're alright.

According to AW guidelines, "chest discomfort" adds at least two classes of difficulty to a rapid.

Gadzooks Gene, sorry to hear of your travails.

Healing wishes, ... healing wishes,

Your troubles down south make me angry.

Sounds like you will come through it OK, though which is a real blessing considering the circumstances.

Guess you won't be running any of those class V trips. There's always next time. Most importantly is your health, get well soon. See you when you get back.
