MAYBE Goshen / Maury / Raymond?

Post by bambam »

This rain event has been a very slow soaker.

The Maury keeps creeping upward. At the moment (8:30 p.m. Monday) Goshen Pass has enough for inner tubes. It would only take a little to make it very bumpy but runnable for hard boats.

Showers are predicted for this evening.

It's currently slightly above what I consider a reasonable boating zero for the section below Rockbridge Baths. I would happily run that if anyone would have the patience to let me try out my new camera.

Barbours Creek looks like it has water. It's a sorta indirect gauge but seems reasonable. I ran it once around six years ago and had class II / III fun. Note to Raymond, didn't want to stomp on your post but that one's sorta in your direction and not out of reach for me.

It's still raining slowly here (near Harrisonburg) so maybe things will break loose by morning.

The dreaded "man" (that'd be me in this case) says tomorrow is okay for me to play hookie.

Sing out if interested,

I wish I could get up that way, but I have to work, so I'm looking at rivers less than an hour from Rocky Mount.

There is a call for rain later in the week, so I hope good stuff will be running Saturday, too.

The Maury continues to arc up painfully slowly as I hear slow rain on my roof. If I look at the graph often enough can I will it to get high enough?

Or is it like the watched pot which refuses to boil?

Tut, tut, Raymond, the daylight savings thing arrives early now.

The Maury is now 2.4 feet USGS and still rising. That amounts to a little over one foot two at the bridge. The Pass is a little tricky but quite runnable at this level (plus it's still rising).

Any interest?

Yes, but so does my Wednesday parking lot duty (and yes, the principal does check to see if we're there), not to mention, I'd be looking at a 5:30 -6:00 putin time, which doesn't leave much daylight in the Pass.

I hope it's still up Saturday.

We have a group forming for an evening run of the Pass meeting around five or so. Call me at 578-5523 (area code 540) if interested.

Water level at noon is 2.56 USGS which is around one foot four at the bridge. This is low but quite runnable.

If you see a little S-10 with a Mega Rocker in the bed, thats me. If not, everyone have a fun paddle in the Pass.
