Boat Lodged Below Hollywood 12/26

Post by Mango »

Lost the Mango Burn to a log below Hollywood  . There is a log on the right
side of the left channel leading out of the runout for Hollywood (LJ). At 8.5'
it was completely under the water and log. With the water going up to 13'
it shouldn't be seen for a while unless the log dislodges. Please keep an
eye out for it, but it's not worth taking any chances for recovery.

Missed the tongue between Flipper and Stripper, and my roll.

Thanks, Hunter, MarcM (hope your knee is feeling better), Eddie, Giggles
and Shaggy for your help getting off the river. :D

Sounds like quite the adventure, glad everything worked out alright.
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

 Glad you're alright Mango. I'll keep and eye out for it and the log as the water drops. If it becomes accessible, we'll plan and organize a recovery effort.

Have fun splashin' around in the warm water down south.
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

The Mango-Burn has been recovered!

Post by Mango »

I'd like to thank my new best friend Russ for helping me recover the Mango-Burn. :D Giggles and I have just returned from our covert
mission to deepest darkest Chesterfield with boat in van. It started this morning when Russ emailed me a very suspicious Craigs List
Post (see below** as soon as I can get it small enough**Fixxed). I called Giggles and had her call about being interested in buying the boat. She called me back a little later and had arranged a meeting for 5:30pm. I spent the rest of the day getting reciepts together (not really the rest of the day) and setting up backup.
I had my business partner call me at intervals to make sure that Mangles didn"t get taken prisoner by the Craigs List Bandits. We arrived in enemy territory as scheduled and under the cover of darkness. Giggles said let me do the talking. We were barely through the door when the target was possitively identified. Sure the name/phone number/e-mail were painted over but hey, it takes more than a little paint to keep a man from recognizing his firs.......I mean second love. Giggles engaged the couple and the guy bandit started explaining all the features like the "hand flippers" & "anchor rope" and how he had been paddling my kayak for years. How Giggles keep a straight face I'll never know. We finally lowered the boom and exited with the Holly Grail of kayaks, the Mango-Burn. The whole way home Giggles kept saying, she couldn't believe they tried to sell us our own kayak.
So all is well back in Mango-Land. Thanks for your help Russ! :)

Aw hell no!! "Hand flippers" and "an anchor line in a bag that floats" all with a large yellow/white Burn.

Have fun down South and I meant what I said about their body parts falling off if it was your stuff too.

Tonight's events really makes me lose faith in mankind. :(
I am glad we got the Mango burn back. :D
I was going to by him a new one if we didn't. Now he will have to settle for a new custom drysuit instead.
