OCT Upper & Lower James Thru Richmond 1/16/10

Post by Mango »

We will be meeting at 9:30 at the 14th Street Takeout and arranging shuttle to be at Reedy Creek at 10:00 and then to Pony Pasture to put in.

Please let me know what section you are interested in paddling, whether it be the Upper (Class II+), Lower (Class III) or both. So we can make
sure we have enough shuttle vehicles.

River level is expected to be around 5 feet and the weather should be partly cloudy, upper 30's to lower 40's. Please dress appropriately.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

Planning to be at Reedy at noon, ready to paddle (as opposed to merely meeting there at noon).

Maiden voyage for my new Green Boat which is, um, red.

My rump feels fully recovered now (if you don't know don't ask) and I'll be at 14th at 11:30 to shuttle up for the lower run.

Now aiming to be at 14th street at 11:30 ready to run shuttle so as not to weasel out of running shuttle.

Ken

P.S.: I think I did a good job of not asking about Paddle Daddy's rump. (Not sure I want to know.)

K-2?

Post by bambam »

This thought just in, ... , the Wintergreen Adaptive Paddling program's Jackson Dynamic Duo K-2 is sitting on my boat rack. (Google it -- it's WAY cool.)

Any interest for Saturday on the lower? (You'll need to sign a waiver, if you haven't already, you know, official stuff and all that good rot.)

That could spice up a 5ft run. I wish I could make it out Saturday  'cause I'd like to fire it up in the DD. Hope y'all have a great time!
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke
